Sacrifice and Discipleship

This morning we went up to jungle camp to join in with the sessions they were having with the Off the Grid program.  The session I was able to attend was on Sacrifice and Discipleship.  As a disciple of the Lord Jesus Christ, what rights do we really have?  As we pursue our walk with the Lord it is easy to think that things are just going to go well for us and that we will be spared suffering and sacrifice because we have a special in with God.  Yet, if we have a Biblical perspective nowhere do we see Christians having any special rights. We are called to give up all of our "rights"; we are called to serve.  In a world where we see more and more of entitlement thinking it was a good challenge to realize we are not entitled to riches, wealth, and many of the comforts of this world.  God however, will faithfully walk beside us in life and will never leave or forsake us.  Then Jesus told his disciples, "If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me."  (Matt. 16:24).
