Ruth's Pinning Ceremony
Last night was Ruth's pinning ceremony. As most nurses know, it is a very special time to be presented with your pin. Ruth was pinned by her Aunt Ruth who is also a nurse. It was a tear jerker of a ceremony. We are so thankful for those who made the trip to celebrate this special event in Ruth's life. Ruth worked VERY hard and spent countless hours studying. We thank all of you who have prayed for Ruth through her many health challenges to make it to the finish line. YEA, RUTH! You will make an amazing nurse!

Pass Me an Empanada, Please!
Yesterday I had the privilege of having the high school girls over for their home ec. class. Our class was on making empanadas, which is a delicious little meat and cheese pocket that you can buy on the streets of Venezuela. The girls did a GREAT job and in no time we had made quite a few of them. They turned our perfect! Great job girls!

The Safe Child Program
Last week I was involved in teaching two different grade levels of the "Safe Child" program. It teaches prevention of sexual, emotional, and physical abuse by people known to the child; prevention of abuse and abduction by strangers; and safety in self care. There is a five minute DVD that the kids watch every day and then time to role play situations by playing the "What If" game. If your child has not had any of this teaching it is very valuable and worth taking.

MK Caregivers Consultation
This week I had the joy and privilege to fly to Kansas City, MO. to attend the M.K. Caregivers Consultation. There were 53 of us who attended. We even had a missionary come from Australia and a couple from Brazil. Dr. Brent Bounds was the main speaker. Brent is on the board of
directors of Barnabas International and serves as the Director of Family
Ministries at Redeemer Presbyterian Church in New York City. He has
worked with the MK Transition Seminar at Biola University for many years
and has extensive experience counseling with missionary families. I learned so much through the difference sessions and workshops. My life was also enriched by meeting so many other missionaries who are working full time with M.K. Care and Education. There were a lot of deep and meaningful conversations as we encouraged each other to "Keep Pressing On". As I return to Canada I am seeking the Lord's guidance as to how we can minister and encourage our missionary families and especially our M.K.'s.

Just Another Sunday
(I am posting this for Grandma and Grandpa who miss having their grandchildren around.) It was nice to have the kids all home on Sunday. We of course missed Ruth, although she sent a picture of her studying. There is usually several different things happening all at once. And there is usually someone banging on the drums and usually a couple of people cooking up something in the kitchen.
