Maiden Flight with Ethnos Airlines

Yesterday was our BIG airport event for our MK Orienation.  We had nine families fly with "Ethnos Airlines" from Durham ON. to PNG.

There were three different flight times during the afternoon.  There are so many things that our missionary families go through and traveling is one of them.  Some  kids who have not flown before can have a lot of anxiety about the whole traveling experience.  Although this was a fun event for the kids we were using it as a teaching time for what happens in an airport.  I am so thankful for our students who did a great job role-playing at the different stations to make our airport as realistic as possible.

Each of the children flying were given a passport.

Families arrived at the airport 1/2 hour before their flight.  They went to the ticket agent to pick up their passports, get their tickets and seat assignment and to check in any luggage they had.

Next, everyone went through the security.  Everyones documents and tickets were checked.  Then, every bag and person was also scanned.

Then our families made it to their gate to wait and then board the plane.

Our families boarded the plane and enjoyed their flight to PNG.  We were able to hook up a TV and sound system so the kids could hear the roar of the jet engines and experience a take off and landing from the cock pit view.

After arriving in PNG our families were off to immigration where the kids got a PNG stamp in their passport.

Once they were cleared with immigration they filled out their customs declaration forms and picked up their luggage.  Then they went through customs.

I am happy to announce that all of our families made it safely to PNG.  There was however an usual cold front that moved in and although they thought PNG would be warmer they were glad to make it safely to their destination and no one lost their luggage.

I am thankful that everything went smoothly.  It was a fun afternoon and we enjoyed chilling with all of the volunteers over a thank-you supper for all their hard work.
