"God Sightings"

We know God is always with us but sometimes through the fog of life it can be like a "Where's Waldo?" book.  Waldo is always there on the page in plain view, however, through all the other wild things going on, it is hard to find Waldo.  It is easy to give up and not bother looking anymore.  But as you train yourself to look for him, after time he can be easier to find.  When a person is going through a lot of heavy things in life, it is easy to be overwhelmed and wonder just where God is.  God is there with us throughout our day, and if we look we can find "God Sightings" all the time.  The more we look the better we are at seeing him.  As I work with children going through transitions it can be easy to wonder where God is.

I have had the joy of debriefing two different families. A couple of days ago I was talking to the kids about "God Sightings" in their every day life.  So we started out looking at a "Where's Waldo" book.  And on the page I picked it was not easy to find him.  But low and behold he was there.  Since we were talking about looking for things I took the kids on a bit of a scavenger hunt.  There were 10 clues.  Each clue brought us to a new location where we would hunt for another clue.  We ended up back in my office. As we talked some more about "God Sightings" and seeing God in our every day life I introduced the kids to a "Blessings Jar".  As you look at things throughout your day you can see a lot of "Yea God" moments of cool things we see God doing, answers to prayer,  or a rainbow  just when we need to be reminded of God's promises to us.  God is always there walking with us through the twists and turns of life and as we tune our hearts toward God he is easier to find.  Although this is a simple example of seeing God in our every day life I know it is something I need to be reminded of myself.  Thanks for praying for me as I work with with children and continue to develop simple ideas to help children learn Biblical truths.
