The Transitional Bridge

I have had the privilege to hang out with some pretty awesome kids these last two days.  These six children will be moving in about five weeks.  Transitions are never easy.  It is my hope that through talking about moving and transitioning it might help when they actually move.  Yesterday we talked about the five stages of transitions and all the emotions involved in each stage.  Although I didn't have an actual bridge, we had a balance beam to represent our bridge.  The children put on opaque safety glasses to represent how our emotions can make it difficult to navigate across the bridge.  Each child had a friend to walk along side of them which made walking across  the bridge so much easier.  That was supposed to show the children how much easier it will be for them to have family and friends who are "there for them" through the transitions ahead.  The kids then tried to make a marshmallow bridge (I had to incorporate food some how into the afternoon).  Please be praying for these children who will be leaving good friends that they have made here and a school community where they have made some fun memories.
