Open Market

Tonight we had an "Open Market" for our children in the training.  We had three vendors set up for the children to buys things at.  One was from Indonesia, another from Hong Kong, and another from Venezuela.  The children had a fun time bartering to buy fruits, vegetables,  candy, and other things.  It was an opportunity for the children to experience trying to buy something as our vendors spoke different languages. This was another fun activity to expose them to different languages and cultures.

Cultural Transplant

As most of you know I have a heart for M.K.'s and love to see them thrive.  Part of preparing and training our students is to help prepare their children (who are future M.K.'s) for the changes and transitions ahead.  The last transition activity I did with our families was called "Cultural Transplant".  We made some comparisons between transplanting a plant into a new pot, and how missionary families are being uprooted and transplanted into a new culture.  Please be praying for our students and their families and all the  adjustments they soon will be going through.

100 Years Ago Today!

Today I have been spending the day remembering my dear Grandmother who would be celebrating her 100th birthday today.  We thought we would be celebrating this milestone with her but at 99 1/2 year old she left this earth and is now in the presence of the Lord.  So on this 100th birthday she is celebrating her 1st. birthday in heaven.  She was an amazing woman who touched me life in so many incredible ways.  I spent some time snuggling with my new little granddaughter today and it just made me miss my grandmother all the more.  Although I have LONG grown out of the snuggling stage, I never outgrew enjoying time spent with my grandmother.  How I thank the Lord for the blessing my grandmother was to me! Happy 100th Birthday Mom!

Welcome Home Aubrey!

Welcome Home Baby Aubrey!  YEA!!!!  We are so excited that Camille and Aubrey were able to come home from the hospital.   Unfortunately little Jeremiah has a very bad cold and is not feeling well.  Please pray for their little family as they all adjust to sweet little Aubrey being home; that they all get some much needed sleep; and that Camille's recovery goes well.

Welcome to the World Aubrey Esther!

It was with GREAT joy that we welcomed our 4th grandchild into the world this morning as Seth and Camille became parents to a beautiful little girl: Aubrey Esther.  She arrived via c-section around 8:00 a.m.  She weighed in at 7 lbs. 15 oz, and is 20 1/2 inches long.  We are so thankful that all went well and that she arrived healthy and strong.   What a precious gift from the Lord!   Please pray for Camille as she recovers from surgery.

Building a RAFT

Transitioning from one place to another is never easy.  How does one transition well?  On Thursday I spent some time talking through all the emotions that a person goes through in the five steps of transition.  On Friday I explained how Building a RAFT can help through the transition process.  We talked through what each letter stands for and how building a RAFT can help make a transition so much easier.
R - Reconcile
A - Affirmation
F - Farewell
T - Think Destination

The Cheerleading Squad is Ready!

Today is the due date of our 4th grandchild, and although we don't anticipate her arriving today we are ready and anxiously awaiting her arrival.  God has giving us the amazing joy and privilege of being grandparents.  Just as we LOVE being our children's biggest cheerleaders in life; it is a thrill to be cheerleaders in the lives of our grandchildren.  So dear little one, the cheerleading squad is ready and waiting to meet you and to cheer you on in life!
