The Transition Bridge
I think M.K.'s and future M.K.'s are some of the coolest kids around. This afternoon I was able to spend some time with five kids who will be leaving and transitioning in a month. After their parents have raised their support they will be moving overseas. We spent some time talking about the different stages of transition and the emotions that come during times of transition. I illustrated this through what is called the "Transition Bridge". Each of the kids then took a turn walking across the "transition bridge". It was easy until they all put on some foggy glasses that made it hard to see. As these kids transition to a new country there will be some challenging things just like the challenge of seeing through foggy glasses and trying to walk on the "bridge". However as you have someone walk although side of you it is much easier to make the transition; and in our experiment, easier to walk across our "bridge". Since our theme was the "Transition Bridge", we then spent some time making Popsicle stick and toothpick/marshmallow bridges. It was a fun time spent together. Please be praying for these children and the others that are still in the training with their parents. Transitions can be hard on anyone but as family and friends support and cheer our M.K.'s on, it can make the whole transition process go so much smoother.
